Shortening hair - what should I watch out for?

Usually our way leads to the hairdresser when we need a haircut. But sometimes it's more comfortable to take up the scissors yourself at home - for example, when time or money are tight or when you want a change really quickly. But a new hairstyle can also be beneficial for the health of your hair. We'll explain how you can cut your own hair and brow fringe. If you have questions like "When should I cut my hair?", "Dry or wet?" or "Does cutting your hair promote hair growth?" you will get valuable tips from us in this guide!

If you want to cut your own hair, you should not just go ahead. It's worth investing some preparation time! On YouTube there are many tutorials in German and English that can help you. They explain how you can create all kinds of haircuts at home. The results of these tutorials can motivate you and give you the necessary courage for your project. But be careful: never cut your hair out of lovesickness or boredom! Such spontaneous and impulsive actions rarely go well. If you want to celebrate a new phase of your life with a complete change, we clearly recommend going to your trusted hairdresser.

To avoid damaging your tips, you should use special hair cutting scissors. They should be very sharp and lie well in your hand. With blunt scissors you will break more than you save! The right method is also essential for a successful haircut. We present you the tricks with which you can quickly get the desired result!

When do I need to cut my hair?
Your mane needs a cut when it puffs up in the lower part and appears brittle or felty: this means that you have split ends and your hair swells up. This causes your hair fibers to split more and more and eventually break off. Then the health of your hair visibly suffers. In this case, cutting your hair promotes hair growth tremendously! To detect split ends, you can twirl your hair strand by strand. The broken ends of the hair will then peek out from these strands - just cut them off and get rid of your split ends!

A regular tip cut can prevent split ends. If you don't feel like getting a haircut, you can easily do it yourself! To do this, straighten your hair and make a braid at the highest point of your head. The braid should hold the hair as close to the head as possible. Then pull the braid straight up in front of the mirror and cut off the broken ends - about one to two centimeters should be enough with good care. Afterwards, you won't have a clear line through the braid, but a nice flow. At the end, cut vertically into the braid to round everything off a bit more.

Every six weeks you should cut your tips to keep your hair healthy. Bonus: You don't have to worry about the hairdresser cutting off more than you wanted, because you're in control yourself! With this method, you can also conjure up a layered cut for hair that extends over your shoulders: to do this, simply cut off more - with at least five to seven centimeters, you'll achieve a new look. This is not a dramatic change, but a visible one. For example, you can celebrate a new phase in your life.

Cut your own bangs - this is how it's done!
There are also simple tricks if you want to cut your own forehead fringe. Recutting is not particularly complicated, but even long strands in the forehead can be quickly transformed into a fringe!
